K-pop fans were surprised yesterday when Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen of the beloved boyband EXO shared a statement that they would be terminating their contracts with SM Entertainment. The trio cited “mistreatment and unfair contract terms” as the reason for their decision.

However, just a day later, the three EXO members released a new statement through their legal representation, saying that they are looking to continue their activities as members of EXO, despite disagreements with their agency.

The statement reads, “Separate from settling legal issues with SM, we wholeheartedly thank the fans who have sent love and support to us over such a long time. However this legal battle concludes, we will faithfully and diligently continue our group activities under the band EXO.”

The trio also denied claims that they were influenced by any outside forces, saying that they are “adults who are capable of thinking ourselves and responsible for the decisions that we make.”

Furthermore, the legal representation of the three EXO members refuted the statement made by SM Entertainment that they had provided the artists with the requested payment information. They argued that the agency only showed them the data but did not provide it.

The news of Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen’s dispute with their agency has led to an outpouring of support from EXO fans, who are hoping for a resolution that will allow the group to continue. As of now, the outcome of the legal battle remains to be seen.
