Tenacious D, the rock duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, have just released the long-anticipated video for their cover of Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’ – and it’s certainly worth the wait. The original performance was aired on SiriusXM back in December last year, and now fans can watch the official video of the track.
Directed by Taylor Stephens, the video sees Black and Gass in their underwear, frolicking around the beach in a playful homage to the iconic 1989 video of the original song, featuring Isaak and model Helena Christensen.
The duo recently released their first new single in five years, ‘Video Games’, which has been well-received by fans and critics alike. In a press release, the band shared that the song is “about growing up and leaving childish things behind… but then realising that video games are more than just mindless toys. In fact, they can be a true expression of huge ideas that belong in the pantheon of great works of art!”
The band are currently on their US tour, and will be performing their new single at The Game Awards concert on June 25 at the Hollywood Bowl in California. After that, they will be heading to Europe for a series of shows, including their first UK show since 2019.
The band have just announced a new Spring tour in the US, kicking off in Atlanta and heading to Chesterfield, Kansas City, and New Orleans. Artist presale starts now (password: SPICY), with public on-sale starting on Friday, December 9th.
In a surprise move, Black recently found success with a song he performed as Bowser for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The song, ‘Peaches’, which Bowser sings to Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) debuted at Number 83 on the chart with 5.8 million US streams and 6,000 downloads in its first week, and the music video for the song has clocked up over 18 million views.
