Foo Fighters have announced a brand new show in Melbourne, Australia as part of their 2023 tour. Taking place on Wednesday December 6, the show will be held at AAMI Park and will feature special guests The Chats and Teenage Joans.

The tour will kick off November 29 in Perth, before moving on to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in December. The Chats will serve as main support for five of the Australian dates, with UK duo Hot Milk opening in Sydney, the first Melbourne show and Brisbane. Tickets are available now for the pre-sale via Frontier Touring. General on-sale begins Thursday June 15.

The tour marks the Foo Fighters’ first tour of both Australia and New Zealand since 2018, and comes almost exactly a year after they had originally scheduled dates in both countries. This was cancelled following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022. As a tribute, the Foo Fighters played a one-off show in the regional Victorian city of Geelong on March 4, which turned out to be Hawkins’ last Australian concert.

Josh Freese was confirmed as Hawkins’ replacement last month, and the band returned to the stage for the first time on May 24 at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford. They have since received a four-star review from NME for their Boston Calling set, which featured guest appearances from Hawkins’ son Shane and Grohl’s daughter Violet.

The Foo Fighters recently released their 11th studio album, ‘But Here We Are’. The record debuted at Number One in both Australia and New Zealand, marking the Foos’ ninth and eighth chart-topping album in the respective countries. NME gave the album a five-star review, describing it as “a beautiful, noisy celebration of brotherhood and a stark, painful exploration of loss”.
