Robbie Williams has revealed the two things that saved him from depression and addiction during his headline performance at the Isle Of Wight Festival. Speaking to the crowd, the singer reflected on his time in Take That and how it led to his struggles.
He shared that two things pulled him out of the darkness: meeting his wife, Ayda Field, and his fans. Williams and Field began dating in 2006 and married in 2010, and now have four children together. He thanked his fans for being there for him and helping him battle his negative thoughts.
“When that negative head tells me, ‘I’m shit, I don’t deserve this, you’re not good enough, you can’t sing, you look ugly, you’re fat’ – all these things that the negative voices can say, you grab hold with something, anything that can make you feel ok in this world that is brutal at times,” he said.
This isn’t the first time Robbie has thanked his fans for their unwavering support. Earlier this year, he delivered an emotional speech in Amsterdam, expressing his gratitude for having them in his life.
In other news, Williams is set to headline this year’s Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. He will be joined by Lizzo, Queens Of The Stone Age, Liam Gallagher and Red Hot Chili Peppers for the three-day event.
Robbie Williams has had a long and successful career, and while he’s faced his fair share of hardships, his fans and family have been there to hold him up. As he continues to make music and perform live, he can be sure of their unwavering support.
