Pop star Bebe Rexha has asked fans to be careful when throwing objects at her while she’s on stage, after she was struck in the face by a mobile device during her performance at Pier 17 in New York City.

The incident occurred last weekend, when a fan threw their phone at Rexha while she was performing her headline set. Videos of the moment circulated on social media, showing an audience member hurling the device which hit Rexha in the face before she dropped to her knees.

Following the incident, Rexha was seen by a medic and given stitches above her eye. During her return to the stage at The Fillmore in Philadelphia on Tuesday (June 20), the singer asked crew to tidy up the stage wiring because she almost “ate shit like three times”, joking that she “can’t get another bruise”.

In a video shared to social media, Rexha can be heard asking the crowd: “Are we going to have a good show tonight? Yes we fucking are. Just no phones on my face tonight, please, I beg of you.” Rexha later tweeted that she was okay.

The man who threw the phone, a 27-year-old male, was reportedly arrested by New York City police and confessed to throwing the device, claiming that he did so because he thought it would be “funny”.

Bad Bunny also recently addressed his decision to throw a fan’s phone after they attempted a selfie with him.

The incident with Rexha, as well as with Bad Bunny, serves as a reminder to fans to be aware of personal space and respect performers on stage. It’s important to be mindful that objects thrown at performers can cause hazards and potential injury.
