Stormzy returns with a brand new collaboration featuring Fredo, and produced by Dave. The track, called ‘Toxic Trait’, is accompanied by an official video directed by Femi Ladi.
The video sees Stormzy teaming up with daytime TV legend Alison Hammond, as well as Fredo, to create a renaissance-style painting come to life. Femi Ladi commented on the video, saying “We collaborated on all the scenarios together which was great – as well as being able to bring in the likes of Fredo and Alison Hammond for their own toxic therapy sessions!”
The track is Stormzy’s first single since his third album ‘This Is What I Mean’ was released last November. In an interview with Rolling Stone UK, he spoke about the next steps following his latest album, saying “I think I’m just where I’m meant to be, and I’m who I’m meant to be and I’m doing what I’m meant to do.”
The release of ‘Toxic Trait’ follows the announcement of the line-up for Stormzy’s ‘This Is What We Mean Day’ at All Points East 2023. The Croydon MC is set to headline the event on August 18, and will be joined by Kehlani, Sampha, Knucks, Lucky Daye, WSTRN, Ms Banks and The No Signal Stage.
