Migos Perform Emotional Tribute to Late Bandmate Takeoff at 2023 BET Awards

Last night, hip-hop trio Migos graced the 2023 BET Awards stage for the first time since the unfortunate passing of their beloved bandmate Takeoff. Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, was killed on November 1, 2022 in what Houston police have said was a ‘lucrative’ game of dice outside a bowling alley. The rapper was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered a gunshot wound to the head or neck.

The remaining members of Migos, Quavo and Offset, performed their hit single ‘Bad & Boujee’ in honor of their late bandmate, marking the first time they have performed together since Takeoff’s death. Quavo had previously lead a tribute to Takeoff at the 2023 Grammy Awards back in February.

The performance was an emotional tribute to Takeoff, and a mark of solidarity from the surviving members of the trio. Since Takeoff’s death, Offset has got a tattoo in remembrance of his bandmate and Quavo released a new tribute song called ‘Greatness’ in his memory.

Earlier this year in January, the man charged with Takeoff’s murder was released from jail after his $1 million bond was posted. Clark was told to remain under house arrest and wear a GPS monitoring device at all times, and is not allowed to communicate with anyone connected to the case or Takeoff’s family.

The performance from Migos at the BET Awards was a powerful moment of tribute and remembrance, and a reminder of the impact Takeoff had on the rap community.
