“Lil Nas X’s Lollapalooza Performance Disrupted by Fan Throwing Sex Toy Onstage: Industry Condemns Concertgoers Throwing Objects”

Posted by

Lil Nas X had an unexpected surprise at his Lollapalooza Stockholm show last Saturday (July 1). During his performance, a fan threw a sex toy onto the stage, causing the 24-year-old artist to pause the show and ask the crowd “who threw their pussy on stage?”. After retrieving the item, X continued with the set, seemingly seeing the funny side of the disruption.

This incident is just one example of a concerning trend of concertgoers throwing items onstage at gigs. Last month, Pink was left stunned after someone in the audience at BST Hyde Park in London threw a bag of their mother’s ashes at her. Another attendee handed her a giant wheel of brie. Bebe Rexha was also hit in the face with a phone, while US country-pop artist Kelsea Ballerini was struck in the face by an item thrown from the crowd.

It’s not just physical items being thrown either. Fans have also been known to throw their phones onto the stage, hoping that the performer will interact with them or take a photo and then return the phone. Harry Styles was hit in the eye with a sweet while performing, as well as being struck by a flying object in Chicago.

This behaviour by fans has been widely condemned by the music industry. Zane Lowe has spoken out against the issue, saying that it “takes courage” and “real vulnerability” for performers to play in front of thousands of people and that there is “no good intention” behind the throwing of objects.

Lil Nas X recently made history by performing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2023, with fans and critics alike praising the set. It’s clear that X is a trailblazer in the music industry, and it’s important that his shows are not disrupted by fans throwing items onto the stage. We must all be mindful of the safety of our favourite artists when attending their concerts.
