Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice have joined forces to create a track for the highly-anticipated Barbie movie soundtrack. Last month, the two released the reworked Aqua classic ‘Barbie Girl’, which features the two being transported into the Barbie world and embarking on various adventures together.
In a new interview, Minaj has revealed that while she “jumped” at the chance to record a track for the upcoming film, she initially turned down a couple of songs because she “didn’t love” them. She said that the final version of ‘Barbie World’ was the one she wanted and that it was a “full-circle moment” for her.
The track is one of various songs included in the Barbie movie soundtrack. Other contributions include Charli XCX’s ‘Speed Drive’, PinkPantheress’s ‘Angel’, and Karol G’s ‘WATATI’. Dua Lipa also shared lead single ‘Dance The Night’ and even has a minor acting role in the movie.
Lizzo, Tame Impala and HAIM are also among the names set to feature on the soundtrack, as well as Ryan Gosling who plays the leading man in the movie, which will be released on July 21.
Meanwhile, Minaj recently announced the release date of her upcoming album. Her first full-length album since 2018, the rapper revealed that it will launch in October and is sure to be a hit.
It’s safe to say that fans of Minaj and the Barbie movie soundtrack are in for a treat this year!
