English rock legends Blur have announced the details of an exclusive London show. On July 25th, the band will be performing their upcoming album ‘The Ballad Of Darren’ in full at the Eventim Apollo. The performance will be the only one of its kind and will be streamed live online for fans around the world.
Produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz), and with cover art from celebrated British photographer Martin Parr, the new album is set to be released on July 21st via Parlophone.
Physical tickets for the show will be available for fans who pre-order the album on July 18th. Those who wish to watch the livestream can do so on the same day at 9pm BST, with rebroadcasts for different time zones and an on-demand service available for a 24 hour period afterwards.
The band have been busy in the run-up to the album’s release, having recently performed two sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. Fans were treated to renditions of fan favourites ‘Parklife’ and ‘Coffee and TV’, as well as the first live performance of ‘Lot 105’ since 1994 and ‘Under The Westway’ since 2014.
The band have teased fans with the newest single ‘St. Charles Square’, which was premiered at a series of intimate shows across the UK. Discussing the new album, bassist Alex James said that “when we do get back together, we’ve all learnt something… There’s always been something very special about when we play together. It’s there right from the get go. I feel fulfilled and blessed.”
