Margo Price has released a stunning cover of Leon Russell’s classic hit, ‘Strangers In A Strange Land’, from the upcoming tribute album ‘A Song For Leon’. The star-studded LP features several exciting collaborations, including Orville Peck, Nathaniel Rateliff, Pixies, Leon’s daughter Tina Rose with Jason Hill and Amy Nelson, Bootsy Collins, Hiss Golden Messenger, and many more.

Price shared that she has been a fan of Russell’s music for a long time. “I’ve always loved Leon Russell’s vibe and approach to music and life in general”, she stated. “I completely fell in love with him after watching the documentary by Les Blank called ‘A Poem Is A Naked Person’”.

The country singer-songwriter chose to cover ‘Strangers In A Strange Land’ for the tribute album, as it is “so prolific”. She went on to explain the monologue in the middle of the song, and how it “still seems absolutely pertinent, and its subject still matters today”.

The tribute album features an array of exciting collaborations, including Bret McKenzie teaming up with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for a take on “Back to the Island”, and U.S. Girls joining forces with funk legend Bootsy Collins on the classic “Superstar”.

‘A Song For Leon’ is set to be released on September 8th via Primary Wave Music. Fans can pre-order the album now.
