Rap icon Nas has dropped the surprise release of his new album ‘Magic 2’, set to drop this Friday (July 21). The highly anticipated sequel album to ‘Magic’ follows on from the success of Nas’ Grammy Award-winning ‘King’s Disease’ trilogy – ‘King’s Disease’, ‘King’s Disease II’, and ‘King’s Disease III’.
The ‘One Mic’ rapper, real name Nasir Jones, has been celebrating 50 years of hip-hop in collaboration with his record label, Mass Appeal. The birthday celebrations will culminate with a concert at the Yankee Stadium on August 11, featuring headliners Run-DMC alongside Snoop Dogg, Lil Kim and more.
Nas recently toured the world with the iconic hip-hop troupe Wu-Tang Clan, selling out a show at London’s O2 arena and an exclusive afterparty at London’s KOKO. The album is the fifth record that Nas has put out in three years, making it his 16th studio album.
The ‘Magic 2’ cover art was posted on Instagram by Jones himself, and the tracklist is yet to be released. The Hit-Boy-produced album has been highly praised by fans and critics alike, with NME giving it a five-star review and claiming that it proves “that, three decades in, he’s still a force to be reckoned with.”
