Grammy-nominated composer Danny Elfman is facing a lawsuit after reportedly failing to pay a settlement for alleged sexual harassment.
Nomi Abadi, a former colleague of Elfman’s, has taken the composer to court for breach of contract, claiming that he failed to pay two of the scheduled payments, totaling $85,000 (£65,000).
The allegations against Elfman are said to include exposing himself and masturbating in front of Abadi without her consent on two occasions. Elfman has strongly denied all accusations, claiming that they are “vicious and wholly false”. His representative added that the settlement was made because his client had no choice but to make “an impossible choice between settling and continuing his career and earning a living for his family or deciding to fight what at the time was an unwinnable battle to tell the truth”.
In response, Abadi’s lawyer has dismissed Elfman’s claims, calling them “directly contrary to the position he maintained in the underlying dispute and to the evidentiary record”.
Known for his score work on films such as Good Will Hunting, Beetlejuice, and Batman, Elfman recently brought The Nightmare Before Christmas to London, performing at Wembley Arena. Last year also saw him collaborate with Chris Bacon on the original score for Netflix hit series Wednesday, with Tim Burton serving as executive producer.
