Tkay Maidza has just released her highly anticipated sophomore album, Sweet Justice, along with a brand new single, ‘Ring-a-Ling’, and its accompanying video. The album follows on from her collaboration with Flume, ‘Silent Assassin’, and is said to explore the period of her life where she has “severed ties” with old friends and “toxic figures” in her life.

Produced by Two Fresh, who Maidza previously worked with on her track ‘Onto Me’, ‘Ring-a-Ling’ is an empowering track that reaffirms her commitment to her goals. The video was directed by Jocelyn Anquetil, who has directed videos for King Krule and Sudan Archives, among others.

Sweet Justice features collaborations with French-born San Francisco-raised singer Lolo Zouaï and New York City-based singer Amber Mark on ‘Out of Luck’, and rapper Duckwrth on ‘Gone to the West’. The album was also produced by Canadian producers Stint and Kaytranada, and is available digitally and on an Australia and New Zealand-exclusive transparent red vinyl.

It’s been a long wait since Maidza’s debut album, ‘Tkay’, which was released in 2016. In between, Maidza has released her critically acclaimed series of ‘Last Year Was Weird’ EPs, and has gained recognition for her music, winning the 2022 NME Award for Best Solo Act from Australia, and the 2021 ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B Release.

Maidza is a Zimbabwean-born, Tarntanya/Adelaide-raised artist who has been gaining huge support slots for Billie Eillish, Dua Lipa and Lizzo. With Sweet Justice, Maidza is ready to put to bed her self-doubt and take her place on the global stage.
