Fans of Sinéad O’Connor are remembering her legacy after the news of the singer’s death at 56 was announced by her family yesterday (July 26). Her death has come as a shock to the music world, with many paying tribute to the artist, including Garbage, Ice-T, Michael Stipe, and Billy Corgan.

Now, as a tribute, footage from her final performance has resurfaced. On February 12, 2020, O’Connor took the stage at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, California, to perform many of her iconic songs. Fans were treated to her cover of Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, a song that made her famous, even though she had previously announced in 2015 that she would no longer be performing it.

When asked about Prince in 2021, O’Connor told The New York Times that, although she understood the appeal of being a musician, she didn’t condone his abusive behavior towards women. She added, “As far as I’m concerned, [‘Nothing Compares 2 U’] is my song.”

The setlist for her Rio Theatre performance included fan favorites such as ‘Queen Of Denmark’, ‘Take Me To Church’, ‘The Wolf Is Getting Married’, ‘Black Boys On Mopeds’, ‘The Last Day Of Our Acquaintance’, ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, ‘Hold Back The Night’, and ‘Milestones’.

As fans mourn the loss of the iconic artist, they can revisit her final performance and remember her for the amazing musician she was.
