Taylor Swift’s spectacular ‘Eras’ tour has made a big impression on fans in Seattle, Washington, leaving a seismic activity similar to that of a 2.3 magnitude earthquake. The two-night show at Lumen Field stadium was so powerful that it was twice as strong as the ‘Beast Quake’ event in 2011 when Seattle Seahawks fans celebrated a touchdown.
Seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach said that the shaking during the concerts was different from other events due to the duration. “Cheering after a touchdown lasts for a couple seconds, but eventually it dies down,” she said. “It’s much more random than a concert.” She also said that the energy from the music, the speakers, and the beat drove the ground to shake.
A fan at the show commented that they could feel the ground shaking beneath their feet. Taylor Swift and Haim, who are currently supporting Swift on the North American leg of the tour, performed ‘No Body, No Crime’ from ‘Evermore’ live for the first time at Seattle.
The tour is set to move to international venues in May 2024, with Paramore joining Swift for the UK and Europe leg. Fans will be pleased to hear that the ‘Eras’ tour will be visiting the UK in August 2024, though unfortunately it rules Swift out as a potential headliner for Glastonbury 2024.
