Sheer Mag have just released a brand new single, ‘All Lined Up’, and signed to Third Man Records. The band’s most recent album, ‘A Distant Call’, came out in 2019, and in 2021 they released the single ‘Crushed Velvet’ for Hulu’s original film The Ultimate Playlist of Noise.
Speaking of the new single, Sheer Mag said that it was inspired by late nights spent playing pool. They described it as having “a looming sense of dread—a fear that no matter how far ahead you get, all it takes is one bad shot to lose the game.”
Ben Blackwell of Third Man Records expressed his excitement to partner with the band. He said, “We are beyond honoured, humbled really, to receive their handshake and their trust. This is gonna be fun as shit.”
‘A Distant Call’ was widely praised, with NME giving it four stars. They said it was a “semi-concept album about strife, struggle and the desire to overcome” and that Sheer Mag had “subtle tweaks here and there for a polished record that cements their place as a kick-ass rock’n’roll band with longevity.”
In addition, ‘Expect the Bayonet’, from their 2017 debut album ‘Need To Feel Your Love’, was played at a campaign rally for Bernie Sanders’ bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.
Fans of Sheer Mag will definitely want to check out the new single and the rest of their discography. With a sound that is both fresh and enduring, Sheer Mag’s music is sure to keep you enthralled.
