Shania Twain has expressed her admiration and love for her friend and fellow Canadian singer Celine Dion amidst her recent health issues. Last year, Dion revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, an extremely rare autoimmune neurological disorder. As a result, all her tour dates for the ‘Courage’ tour had to be postponed and later cancelled.
Speaking to Billboard, Twain shared a heartfelt message, expressing her hope that Dion would be “singing for us all again.” Twain further shared her own experience of battling the debilitating Lyme Disease in 2003, which left her unable to sing and required surgery to correct her vocal cords.
In an Instagram post in April 2022, Dion shared an update on her health, saying she was “doing a little bit better” and receiving treatment, but that her recovery was slow and frustrating.
Twain has recently been touring around the world on her ‘Queen of Me’ Tour, having released her sixth studio album of the same name in January 2021. Fans can purchase tickets to her upcoming US tour dates in October here.
The singer also shared her admiration for Harry Styles and Tyler Joseph of Twenty One Pilots, describing the former as her “favourite” and expressing her pride in the latter’s work on her album.
This year, a musical comedy-drama film based on Dion’s life, titled Aline, was released. Dion was also featured on Forbes’ Richest Self-Made Women list in June 2021, placing 56th.
Fans of both Shania Twain and Celine Dion hope that both singers can continue to conquer the music industry, despite any health issues they may face.
