Josh Kiszka, the frontman of Greta Van Fleet, recently revealed that he is part of the LGBTQ+ community. The singer made the announcement via his Instagram, saying that his closest friends were aware of his relationship with his partner for the past eight years, but he wanted to publicly share the news.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kiszka said he was initially apprehensive about coming out, and felt that he may have a target on his back due to the lack of acceptance in society. However, the response he received was nothing but supportive and loving. “Everything had been met with love and acceptance and humility and respect, and that was a huge wave of reassurance that things are moving in the right direction,” he said.

Kiszka was overwhelmed with emotion during a gig in Nashville, Tennessee, when thousands of fans held up multicolored pieces of paper to create a rainbow-colored effect. He said that the experience made the song he was performing take on new meaning, and that it gave him hope that one day the lyrics of “Hate bound by fear will unwind” will become irrelevant.

Greta Van Fleet is currently on tour, with upcoming shows in Saint Paul, Minnesota, New York City, Boston, Cleveland, Amsterdam, London, and more. For any remaining tickets, fans can visit the band’s website.
