The Hives have surprised fans in Liverpool with an impromptu performance of their classic track ‘Hate to Say I Told You So’. The Swedish rockers were joining forces with Lancashire stoner rockers Sky Valley Mistress after the female-led band pulled up outside the band’s signing session in a hearse, complete with sound system and their own band name.

As the members of The Hives arrived, Sky Valley Mistress began playing their 2000 hit and frontman Pelle Almqvist joined the band in singing along from the pavement. Footage of the moment was shared to The Hives’ social media channels and Sky Valley Mistress also uploaded images of the surprise collaboration, showing both shots of the performance and the two line-ups posing together.

The Hives have been supporting their latest album ‘The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons’ and the band recently announced an intimate gig in Brighton, set to take place tonight (August 16). Fans can purchase tickets directly or with a signed CD and ticket bundle or signed LP and ticket bundle.

In a four-star review, NME described the album as “playful, juvenile and nails the brief”, and frontman Pelle Almqvist described it as “fucking stupid and childish”. The band also spoke about the indie sleaze era and reflected on supporting Arctic Monkeys on their UK and Ireland stadium tour this summer.

The Hives’ unexpected performance in Liverpool will no doubt be a memorable moment for both them and Sky Valley Mistress, and fans of both bands are sure to be eagerly awaiting further collaborations.
