David Byrne, former frontman of the legendary Talking Heads, has recently expressed regret for the way the band broke apart. In an interview with People, he opened up about being a “little tyrant” while working on Talking Heads shows.

The band is set to reunite for a Q&A at the Toronto International Film Fest in celebration of the 40th anniversary of their iconic concert film, Stop Making Sense. The event will be the first public appearance by the band in over two decades.

When discussing the end of the band, bassist Tina Weymouth described Byrne as “insecure” in a series of essays in the Sunday Times. Drummer Chris Frantz also touched on Byrne’s “insecurity” and “transactional” nature in his 2020 memoir.

Fans have been speculating if the reunion will lead to a full tour or further activity. However, Byrne indicated in a WIRED interview that the band had grown apart due to differing musical tastes.

The Talking Heads recently paid tribute to late Sire Records co-founder Seymour Stein, who passed away at the age of 80. The band is set to reunite to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their classic concert film, Stop Making Sense.

The reunion will serve as a reminder of the incredible talent of the Talking Heads, and a testament to the importance of collaboration and respect amongst musicians. It will be fascinating to see what the band will come up with next.
