Houston-based singer-songwriter d4vd has just shared a brand new single, ‘Notes From A Wrist’, and it’s an emotionally-charged track that’s already stirring up a buzz.
The track tackles tough themes of depression, unstable home environments and more. d4vd wrote ‘Notes From A Wrist’ about a childhood friend who struggled with depression, and the sonics are deliberately stripped back, creating an eerie feeling like a voice speaking in your head.
The accompanying music video, directed by Erik Rojas, also paints a picture of the darkness d4vd has experienced in his life, as he reflects on a lost love. Already, the video has been gaining traction, racking up thousands of views in just a few days.
But that’s not all. ‘Notes From A Wrist’ is the first single off of d4vd’s newly announced EP, ‘The Lost Petals’, due out September 8th via Darkroom/Interscope. The five-track EP will also feature ‘Hollow Prayers’, ‘Rehab’, ‘Poetic Vulgarity’ and ‘Once More’.
This isn’t the first time the artist has made waves this year. He was recently unveiled as the inaugural cover artist for The Cover, NME’s weekly cover story featuring emerging talent from around the world. He also curated an accompanying ‘songs for tour’ playlist, featuring songs from Holly Humberstone, Clairo, Billie Eilish and more.
d4vd’s music and artistry have already been resonating with listeners around the world, and it’s clear that this talented artist is only just getting started. Make sure you check out ‘Notes from a Wrist’ and pre-save ‘The Lost Petals’ EP for all the latest music from d4vd.
