Last night (August 19), The Strokes and singer-songwriter Regina Spektor reunited to perform their 2004 collaboration ‘Modern Girls And Old Fashion Men’ for the first time in 20 years. The homecoming show at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens was made even more special as the crowd cheered them on.

Lead singer Julian Casablancas welcomed Spektor to the stage and expressed his appreciation for her presence. The singer-songwriter reciprocated with her own enthusiasm for the iconic New York band. As they kicked off the track, the audience sang along to the classic, bringing the night to an unforgettable level of excitement.

The song, originally a B-side to the band’s 2004 hit single ‘Reptilia’, was last performed live in 2003 at the Madison Square Garden Theatre. It made another appearance on New Year’s Eve 2019 at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, with Mac Demarco taking on Spektor’s parts.

The Forest Hills show was a night of many firsts, as The Strokes also debuted ’15 Minutes’ from their third studio album ‘First Impressions Of Earth’ and ‘Why Are Sunday’s So Depressing’ from their 2020 album ‘The New Abnormal’.

The band continued the reunion at their show in Colorado with a special guest appearance from Weyes Blood, performing ‘Modern Girls And Old Fashion Men’ at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The Strokes also played ‘Fear Of Sleep’ for the first time since its release 18 years ago at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. Fans of the band can look forward to their next performance at London’s All Points East festival next Friday (August 25), featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Girl In Red, Amyl & The Sniffers and more. Tickets and more information can be found online.
