The Killers have hinted at something big, and fans are already speculating what it might be.
The Las Vegas band took to social media today (August 21) to share a mysterious five-second video of a dancer in carnival-style attire in the desert, accompanied by some dramatic percussive music.
The video didn’t include any further details, leaving fans to speculate. Could it be an announcement of a Super Bowl halftime show, or a new single?
The last single from The Killers was ‘Boy’ in 2022, and frontman Brandon Flowers previously shared with NME that the song was the “impetus” for their 2021 album ‘Pressure Machine’. He described it as being “in the dust, it’s in the gutter, and it’s looking at the stars” and “writing in more of a new wave vehicle”.
The Killers have written more new material since ‘Pressure Machine’, with Flowers sharing that they’ve been sending ideas back and forth and talking to their producers. He also said that they expect to release a full record early next year, as well as more releases this year.
The band’s last album ‘Pressure Machine’ was well-received by the music world, with NME calling it a “fascinating, character-driven homecoming”. The album arrived a year after ‘Imploding The Mirage’, which earned five-stars from NME for its blend of modern pomp and alt-rock.
Along with the album releases, The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers was recently one of Elton John’s musical guests at his Glastonbury headline slot, where the pair performed ‘Tiny Dancer’. John expressed his admiration for Flowers, saying he was the first person he thought of to sing with him, despite Flowers having played Glastonbury six times with The Killers.
As the band teases its next big announcement, fans can only wait to find out what the future holds.
