Roger Waters has just unveiled a brand new solo version of the classic Pink Floyd song ‘Time’. The iconic track was originally featured on the band’s eighth album ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’, and Waters has reimagined the song for his upcoming record ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux’.
The musician’s new rendition of the song takes a dream-like approach to the original, featuring a more atmospheric production which puts Waters’ hushed vocals at the forefront. Produced by Waters and collaborator Gus Seyffert, ‘The Dark Side of the Moon Redux’ also features contributions from Joey Waronker, Jonathan Wilson, Johnny Shepherd and Jon Carin.
The project celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original album, and Waters has said that he wanted to explore “what the wisdom of an 80-year-old could bring to a reimagined version”. He is proud of the outcome and believes it stands alongside the original as a “work that can sit proudly alongside the original, hand-in-hand across a half-century of time”.
Waters recently released his reimagined version of ‘Money’, and former Pink Floyd bandmate Nick Mason has already heard snippets of the upcoming LP, hailing it as “absolutely brilliant”. ‘The Dark Side of the Moon Redux’ is set for release on October 6th, and Waters will be performing the record in full at two special live concerts at the London Palladium on October 8th and 9th.
