Boygenius’ Julien Baker recently made an exciting appearance on stage with Turnstile at the Rock En Seine festival in France. Fan-shot footage of the performance of ‘Underwater Boi’, taken from Turnstile’s 2021 album ‘Glow On’, has been shared online, marking the first time the two acts have performed the track together.
The collaboration saw Baker harmonising with Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates and made for a truly special moment. Later that same day, Yates and Viagra Boys’ Sebastian Murphy joined Boygenius onstage at the same festival for a performance of ‘Satanist’.
The collaborative spirit between the two acts has continued, with Turnstile recently releasing a new EP, ‘New Heart Designs’. The collection features alternative, jazz-orientated re-workings of three songs from Turnstile’s third studio album, ‘Glow On’.
Meanwhile, Boygenius released their debut album, ‘The Record’ in March this year to great acclaim. The album is a testament to what happens when three talented individuals come together. It features 12 tracks that could easily have fit nicely on one of the group’s personal records, but together, they take on a bolder, brighter existence.
The recent collaboration between Turnstile and Boygenius is only further proof that when talented artists come together, the result is an unforgettable experience.
