Pop star Miley Cyrus has opened up about why she finds touring so difficult, sharing that it “isn’t healthy” for her.
In a recent interview series for TikTok titled ‘Used To Be Young’ – alongside the release of her new song of the same name – Cyrus explained why the demands of being a music artist can be so challenging.
In May, the singer revealed that she would be taking a break from touring, as “singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love”. Her comments sparked a mixed response from fans, so Cyrus clarified on social media that she felt “more connected to [her] fans now than ever”.
In the interview, Cyrus elaborated further and said that fans don’t always understand that “the show is only 90 minutes, but that’s your life”. She went on to share that the “level of ego that has to play a part” can be difficult to turn off after a performance and “erases [her] humanity and [her] connection”.
Speaking about her hiatus from touring, the pop star said that it “has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans”, but instead that she “simply don’t[s] want to get ready in a locker room”.
Cyrus also discussed her song ‘Wrecking Ball’ turning 10, as well as the source of inspiration for her new single ‘Used To Be Young’, which she said was Adele.
