Doja Cat has just announced her eagerly anticipated next album, ‘Scarlet’, which is set to arrive on September 22. The record follows her successful 2021 album, ‘Her World’, and is the singer and rapper’s first full-length release since the chart-topping ‘Planet Her’.
The news of the album was first revealed last night (August 29) via Doja Cat’s social media. Fans have yet to receive further details on the album, but the singer has already released two singles in anticipation of the record: ‘Paint The Town Red’ and ‘Attention’. It is currently unknown if both of these will be featured on ‘Scarlet’.
Doja Cat has also recently collaborated with fellow singer SZA on the remix of ‘Kill Bill’, which topped the Billboard charts, and has been featured on the Elvis soundtrack with the track, ‘Vegas’.
The singer has also recently announced her first-ever North American arena tour, with Ice Spice and Doechii as support. Tickets are now available online.
However, the news of the upcoming album was preceded by a controversial incident, in which Doja Cat deleted her Threads account and lost 180,000 followers on Instagram due to a series of critical posts. The unfollowing spree has been noted, with Doja Cat commenting on her Instagram story: “Seeing all these people unfollow makes me feel like I’ve defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long, and it feels like I can reconnect with people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was.”
Doja Cat is now set to make her triumphant return with ‘Scarlet’, which will be released on September 22. Fans can pre-order the album now and can look forward to a tour with Ice Spice and Doechii in the near future.
