Grimes has recently come out to show her support for Miley Cyrus’ decision to take a break from touring. In an interview, Cyrus stated that touring isn’t healthy for her. The pop star said that “the show is only 90 minutes, but that’s your life”.

Grimes echoed Cyrus’ sentiments in a now-deleted tweet, expressing her struggles with touring. She wrote, “If u exist entirely for the pleasure of others there is nothing left of you. It’s hard to express this without feeling ungrateful. I have no idea how to ever approach tour again, but I feel so guilty about it.”

Cyrus opened up further about her decision in her interview, saying that “if you’re performing at a certain level of intensity and excellence, there should be an equal amount of recovery and rest”. She went on to say that “there’s a level of ego that has to play a part, that I feel gets overused when I’m on tour and once that switches on, it’s hard to turn it off”.

The singer clarified her decision to take a break from touring, explaining that it “erases [her] humanity and [her] connection” and that without them, she is unable to be a songwriter, which is her priority.

Grimes’ and Cyrus’ statements on tour have resonated with many fans, who have taken to social media to show their support for the two singers. Cyrus has recently revealed that she was “thinking of Adele” when writing her song “Used To Be Young”. She also discussed her 2013 public argument with Sinéad O’Connor to mark her song “Wrecking Ball” turning 10.
