Beyoncé celebrated her 42nd birthday in style at a show in Los Angeles, bringing out both Kendrick Lamar and Diana Ross to join her on stage. The momentous occasion took place during her ‘Renaissance’ tour, as part of her third and final show at the SoFi stadium.
The 37-track setlist kicked off with a back-to-back performance of ‘Dangerously In Love’, ‘Flaws And All’ and ‘1 + 1’. This was followed by fan favorites such as ‘BREAK MY SOUL’, ‘Run The World (Girls)’ and ‘Love On Top’.
The show reached its pinnacle with the live debut of Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM’ remix. This collaboration first dropped earlier this year, and marked the third time the two superstars have worked together, following on from ‘Freedom’ in 2016 and ‘NILE’ in 2019.
The show also included the special surprise of Diana Ross, who took to the stage to sing her 1976 song ‘Love Hangover’. After the performance, Beyoncé thanked Ross for her presence, and expressed her appreciation for the celebration: “My soul is full. I’m so thankful, I’m trying not to cry. I’m thankful to be alive. I’m thankful to be on stage. I’m thankful to look out and see your faces.”
In light of the milestone, Beyoncé asked her fans to wear silver to the shows, in celebration of Virgo season. She said: “Virgo season is upon us. This tour has been such a joy and as we approach the last month, my birthday wish is to celebrate with you wearing your most fabulous silver fashions to the shows August 23-September 22!”
The ‘Renaissance’ tour continues in Seattle next week (September 14), with a show at the Lumen Field. This tour is on course to surpass the revenue of her previous concert tours, potentially exceeding $2billion (£1.6billion).
