Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk has released an animated music video for her latest single, ‘Victimhood’. The video was directed by Gabríela Friðriksdóttir and Pierre-Alain Giraud and premiered on Friday, September 1st during Björk’s ‘Cornucopia’ tour stop in Lisbon.
Speaking about the video, Friðriksdóttir said: “I was captivated by the song. It has a deep connection that I couldn’t forget. The song is about dealing with self-pity and how it’s funny in a strange way. Instead of blaming others, it’s an opportunity to rediscover yourself. There’s a poetry about the human situation that everyone can relate to.”
Björk added: “I consider myself an optimist. In this song, I explore how it is to be a victim, even if it is by choice. It’s a strange hat to wear. I love the magical characters in the painting and the deep meanings they have for me.”
The video release is in honor of Björk winning this year’s Best Live Performer award at the Association of Independent Music Awards (AIM). This title follows her tenth studio album ‘Fossora’, which was released in September of last year.
Fans of Björk will be delighted to watch this new music video and witness the singer’s latest achievement. The video is a perfect way to celebrate the artist’s success and will offer viewers a chance to explore the deep meanings in her music.
