Olivia Rodrigo and Phoebe Bridgers recently discussed the difficulties of touring and the “scary” side of fame in an interview.
Rodrigo admitted that she is still figuring out how to manage long touring. She said “I’m in such disbelief that people want to come and see me play my little songs.”
The ‘Driver’s License’ singer then spoke of the pervasive culture of social climbing and virality in the current generation. She also commented on the importance of being grateful for the opportunities presented to her.
Bridgers quoted Mitski, saying “Fame is abuse,” and that “behind every, especially famous, woman is a bunch of really scary emails.”
Rodrigo recently released her second album ‘Guts’ to rave reviews. NME’s Sophie Williams wrote in a five-star review “It marks the end of Rodrigo’s teenage years, a moment that has gravity given that she recently said in a statement that she felt like she grew ’10 years’ between the ages of 18 and 20.”
The ‘Brutal’ singer is set to perform at the 2021 MTV VMA’s with six nominations for her single ‘Vampire’. This will be the singer’s second appearance at the VMAs, having performed ‘Good 4 U’ in 2021.
Fans of Rodrigo and Bridgers can look forward to hearing the two singers discuss their anxieties and views on fame in more detail in the Interview Magazine interview.
