“Beastie Boys Honored with Official Landmark in Lower East Side of NYC”

Beastie Boys Square is now an official landmark in the Lower East Side of New York City. To honor the rap trio, the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington has been renamed Beastie Boys Square. The cover of their 1989 album, Paul’s Boutique, features this landmark.

The idea of renaming the intersection was first proposed over a decade ago by fans of the band. While the plan was initially rejected by a community board in New York, it was finally approved last year. On Saturday (September 8), Beastie Boys were honored at a ceremony at the location, and Ad-Rock and Mike D both spoke at the event. Ad-Rock expressed his appreciation for the city, while Mike D thanked New York for helping them become who they are today.

The event was an exciting time for fans of the group, with several people taking to social media to share their experiences. The hashtag #BeastieBoysSquare was trending on Twitter as people shared photos and videos of the unveiling ceremony.

Council member Christopher Marte praised the group for changing the hip-hop game when they first hit the scene. He described the event as a celebration for the Lower East Side, hip-hop, and especially the community who made it all happen.

In addition to the street renaming, Beastie Boys released a special vinyl reissue of their 1998 album Hello, Nasty to celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary. The 4LP box set comes with a book full of bonus tracks, rarities, B-sides, remixes and more.

The renaming of Beastie Boys Square is a huge milestone for the legendary rap trio and their fans, and a reminder of their legacy and ongoing influence on the world of hip-hop.
