Lil Nas X has announced that his upcoming album will feature a unique blend of genres, including folk and Brazilian funk. The news came to light at the world premiere of his new documentary, Long Live Montero, which was held at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Wednesday night.

Directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada and Zac Manuel, the film follows the rapper’s first ever world tour and the emotional journey he experienced during the tour. When asked about when he will return to Toronto for a gig, Lil Nas X responded that he wanted to release “good-ass, fire-ass music first.” He went on to say that he wanted to incorporate folk and Brazilian funk into the music for his next project.

Earlier this year, the pop star teased details of the upcoming album, saying that he wanted to “build moments around this shit” to create something bigger than before. Despite the excitement surrounding the premiere, the event was briefly delayed due to a bomb threat being made against Lil Nas X. Sources say that the threat was made in response to the musician’s race and sexual orientation.

After the necessary checks were made, the rapper walked the red carpet and joined the premiere as planned. Cameron Bailey, CEO of TIFF, spoke highly of the artist, saying that Lil Nas X’s documentary is a “triumphant ode to the extraordinary power of self-expression, music, and identity.” Fans are eagerly awaiting the new album and what it will bring.
