Legendary musician and songwriter Paul Simon has recently revealed his plans to return to touring. After struggling with hearing loss in his left ear in recent years, Simon is now looking for a new solution that could help him make his return to the stage.

At a Q&A at the Toronto Film Festival, Simon opened up about his hearing loss and how he hasn’t fully accepted it yet. However, he is now due to start working with two guitarists to fill in some of his musical parts in a live setting. Simon went on to say that this could potentially allow him to return to touring and singing with the help of the guitars.

The legendary singer-songwriter is also featured in a new documentary, In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival over the weekend. The documentary, directed by Alex Gibney, follows the music artist at his home studio in Texas, working on his latest album ‘Seven Psalms’.

In addition to this, Simon has also confirmed that he still plays his guitar every day for his own mental and emotional well-being. He believes that the instrument allows him to express himself creatively and to find solace when he needs it.

Despite Simon’s attempts to rehearse with his touring band earlier this year, it didn’t go to plan. He recently revealed that he still hasn’t figured out how to perform with his hearing loss and that he doesn’t know if he’ll ever do anything with the new song he wrote titled ‘When I Learned to Play Guitar’.

Paul Simon, the former member of the iconic duo Simon & Garfunkel, announced his farewell tour in February. He had said he was looking forward to reaching the point where he could bring his performing career to an end.

The Toronto International Film Festival continues until this Sunday (September 17). Fans of Paul Simon are sure to be excited to see his return to the stage, with the help of two guitarists and the music he loves.
