Grammy Award-winning artist Pharrell Williams has a unique approach to making music and clothes – a recording studio in the Louis Vuitton’s Paris headquarters.
The creative director of the French luxury fashion house was appointed back in February and his first collection was presented during men’s fashion week in June.
Williams told GQ that his office is equipped with a recording studio, allowing him to work on both music and clothes with ease. “Songs and shoes, accessories and harmonies. And it’s one fluid thing,” he said.
The singer-songwriter also told The New York Times Style magazine that there is little difference between making clothing and music. “Being a producer and a creative director are similar. I can go from apparel to drums, from trunks to melodies. Within my design studio, I have a section allocated to music, so I go back and forth all day,” he said.
It appears that fans of music have something to look forward to, as Pharrell recently shared with Tyler, The Creator of GQ that he has been working on “twelve N.E.R.D records” while in Paris. Describing the music as being “big choruses”, he also shared that it is similar to 2001’s ‘In Search Of…’.
Most recently, Pharrell released the gospel single ‘Joy (Unspeakable)’ as part of Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. Judging by the amount of work he has been doing, it’s likely that fans of Pharrell’s music will have a lot to look forward to in the near future.
