Doja Cat has recently revealed why she changed the title of her latest album from ‘Hellmouth’ to ‘Scarlet’. In an episode of Hot Ones, the rapper told host Sean Evans that she just “likes good words.” She went on to explain her thought process behind the change, saying that she wanted to make an “ode to ‘Hot Pink’” and that the new title was a “twist” to it.
The album, which dropped last month, has received a three-star review from fans and critics alike. Nick Levine from NME described the record as an “overlong, slightly repetitive but ultimately compelling album of two halves.”
Doja Cat has also responded to criticism of the album artwork for ‘Scarlet’. Many saw the artwork as identical to German metal band Chaver’s album ‘Of Gloom’. The artist then shared a new and markedly different album cover and Doja Cat told one fan that the two spiders on the cover signified “conquering your fear.” She added that she doesn’t care about “satisfying” her fans anymore.
Doja Cat’s latest album ‘Scarlet’ is a unique blend of pop and rap, and has been praised for its ability to explore different themes and ideas. The title change and new artwork has been well received by fans and critics alike, and is sure to be a success.
