Taylor Swift fans are convinced the singer is the mysterious mind behind the widely anticipated spy movie Argylle. The action-packed film stars Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa and is based on the debut novel of first-time novelist Elly Conway. Though the book’s release was initially slated for September, it was pushed back to April 2021.
Much speculation has surrounded the anonymous author’s identity, as there is very little information available about Conway. According to a bio on Penguin, Conway was born and raised in Upstate New York and wrote her first novel about Agent Argylle while working as a waitress in a late-night diner.
A TikTok user recently posted a video with the theory that the elusive author could be a pseudonym for Taylor Swift. The user pointed to various clues that connect to the pop star, such as Conway’s red hair (which Swift wore for her role in the short film “All Too Well”) and the same breed of cat (Scottish Fold) that Swift owns. Even the date of Conway’s first post on Instagram aligns with Swift’s birthday, December 13.
Swift has also used pseudonyms in the past, such as when she co-wrote Calvin Harris’ track “This Is What You Came For” under the name Nils Sjoberg. Argylle is set to hit theaters on February 2, 2024. Fans are eager to find out if the rumors about Elly Conway are true and if Taylor Swift is indeed the mastermind behind the action comedy.
