Depeche Mode took over the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Friday night (October 27th) and it was an incredible performance. The iconic English synthpop band performed their track ‘Wagging Tongue’, taken from their 2020 album ‘Memento Mori’. The album was the first posthumous release since the passing of bandmate Andy Fletcher in 2022. The track recently received the remix treatment courtesy of Wet Leg.
The band had a successful European tour earlier this year, with a show at London’s Twickenham Stadium. They are set to return to the UK and Europe in 2024 with additional dates, including a show at the O2 Arena in London. They also recently announced a few more dates in Spain, Germany, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
Fans had the opportunity to witness the performance of the band’s classic hits, including ‘Everything Counts’, ‘I Feel You’, ‘Wrong’, ‘A Pain That I’m Used To’, and the encore of ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ into ‘Never Let Me Down Again’ into ‘Personal Jesus’. It was a night of euphoria, nostalgia, and pure energy.
Depeche Mode continue to show that they are still very much alive and kicking in the music industry. Their energy and enthusiasm for performing is evident, and they have left fans feeling spoiled and excited for what the future holds. With their current purple streak, we can only hope that they will continue to bring us great music for many years to come.
