Flavor Flav Sings Rousing US National Anthem at NBA Game, Capturing the Internet’s Attention

Hip hop icon Flavor Flav recently took to the stage at a NBA game to perform a rousing version of the US National Anthem. Footage of the performance has since gone viral, with many praising his passionate rendition of the classic song.

Flavor Flav performed at the Hawks-Bucks game in Wisconsin on October 29th. The Public Enemy co-founder put his own spin on the National Anthem, repeating the lyric ‘for the brave’ three times. His vocal performance has inspired a range of reactions on social media, with one user writing: “All I got to say is Flavor Flav knew all the words & sung with heart!”.

The Bucks and Hawks both responded to the performance on Twitter with “YEAH BOY”, with the Bucks adding: “S/O Flavor Flav for the flavorful anthem!” Flavor Flav also shared his own thoughts, writing on Twitter: “The anthem was a long time bucket list item,,,[sic] that was fun!” He also admitted to being “nervous AF to try something new and it’s a crazy difficult song.” Along with the praise, Flavor Flav was also supported by fellow hip hop artist Missy Elliott, who wrote “Determination and drive go along way🙌🏾big up LEGENDARY Flavor Flav.”

Public Enemy recently announced that they are reissuing their iconic 1988 album ‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back’. Chuck D spoke of the release, describing how the album was a part of rap’s evolution from a singles-driven genre into the dawn of rap’s album age. The vinyl reissue is now available for pre-order.
