Huey Lewis & The News have made exciting plans to take their musical, The Heart of Rock and Roll, to Broadway. Following its San Diego debut in 2018, the musical will launch previews at The James Earl Jones Theatre on March 29, 2024, with opening night set for April 22.

The show features a selection of the band’s biggest hits, including ‘The Power of Love’ from Back to the Future, ‘Workin’ For A Livin”, ‘Stuck With You’ and ‘If This Is It’. It follows a couple in their thirties who are both sure of what they want out of life, until they meet each other. It will take ‘The Power of Love’ and help from their friends to show them the way.

The Broadway production’s casting is yet to be announced, but Huey Lewis expressed his joy at being able to bring his stories and songs together on the world’s most famous stage.

Producer Hunter Arnold commented on the show, saying it is more than just a trip down memory lane – it is a remedy for our age of anxiety and a joyful gift to Broadway audiences.

Huey Lewis recently confessed that he has never seen Christian Bale’s 2000 movie American Psycho, which featured his song ‘Hip To Be Square’.

With the band’s long-awaited musical set to hit the big stage in 2024, music fans are already counting down the days to the opening night.
