Legendary singer-songwriter Kate Bush has announced the release of reissued physical copies of her entire discography, including two brand new editions of her classic album ‘Hounds of Love.’
The Fish People record label and atelier, The State51 Conspiracy, have joined forces to create some avant-garde designs of Bush’s albums. All the records are available to order from her website from 1st December, which has also been freshly updated for the occasion.
The ‘Hounds of Love’ album (1985) has been divided into two separate records. The first is called ‘The Baskerville Edition’ and boasts artwork and illustrations by the design studio Timorous Beasties, as well as a solar-powered flashing LED light.
The second new format of ‘Hounds of Love’ consists of two boxes, ‘The Boxes of Lost at Sea’, each containing one side of the album. The boxes have their own white vinyl, a UV-printed illustration, and a battery-powered LED light.
This idea was inspired by an art piece Bush made for the charity War Child in 1993. She created two identical box frames, each with a flashing red LED, text on brass plaques, and donated them to an auction at the request of Brian Eno.
Bush also announced the release of new physical versions of all her albums, some of which will be sold in mixed coloured vinyl. Some albums will only be available through independent record stores or her website, and all are from the 2018 remastered versions.
The singer expressed her enthusiasm for the new reissues, saying: “It’s very exciting to see the resurgence of appreciation for the physical presence of albums released on vinyl. Buying an album was an event. There’s a special emotional connection that happens between the possessor of an album, the music and the artwork, when it exists in the real world.”
Additionally, a donation will be made to War Child for each new box sold.
Fans can find the full list of new formats and availability on Bush’s website.
