St Vincent Praises Kate Bush’s Genius in Awe-Inspiring Tribute

St Vincent has opened up about the awe she feels for musician Kate Bush, saying “there is no one who could ever compare.” The singer, real name Annie Clark, made the comments on social media following Bush’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Clark remembered discovering Bush’s music when she was just seven or eight years old, saying she was “wept” when she heard the song ‘This Woman’s Work’ in the 1988 movie She’s Having a Baby. Later, when Clark was around sixteen, she bought The Sensual World and was “taken” with the singer’s expression.

The artist continued to praise Bush’s work, saying she was “soaring” on her song ‘Aerial’ and that her album Hounds of Love was “urgent” and “emotional”. Clark wrote: “How could someone be this genius and pure and completely free? Vocally, musically, physically? I stand in awe of Kate Bush. There is no one who could ever compare.”

Bush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame via a speech by Big Boi, but was not able to attend the ceremony herself. The singer issued a statement saying she was “completely blown away” by the honor and thanked everyone who voted for her.

To mark the occasion, Bush announced a series of new physical reissues of her album back catalogue, including two radical redesigns of ‘Hounds of Love’. The records will be available to purchase from her website from December 1.
