The Beatles Reach Milestone with AI-Assisted Final Track, ‘Now and Then’

Paul McCartney recently shared his surprise to hear Guns N’ Roses cover his 1973 hit with Wings, ‘Live & Let Die’. The song, which McCartney wrote for the James Bond film of the same name, was a major success when it was covered by the legendary rockers two decades later and appeared on their 1991 album ‘Use Your Illusion I’.

The Beatles frontman admitted he wasn’t expecting the cover to be so popular that it was mistaken for an original GNR track. He revealed on his A Life In Lyrics podcast: “I thought it was pretty good actually. I was more amazed that they would actually do it, this young American group.”

McCartney said he was pleased to hear that his work was being appreciated by a new generation of music fans. He added: “I always like people doing my songs.”

The iconic songwriter went on to discuss his ambition to write a Bond theme, saying: “It was always a sneaky ambition to write a Bond song because, in some ways, I like to see myself, one portion of myself, as a jobbing writer. You require a song for the queen’s wedding, I’m your man.”

Recently, The Beatles achieved a major milestone with their “final” track ‘Now And Then’ – a John Lennon demo tape completed by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr with the help of AI. It was released alongside both a short video documenting their time completing the project and a Peter Jackson-directed music video that included previously unseen footage of the band.

The track went on to top the charts last week, more than six decades after the Fab Four secured their first Number One.
