Music legend Dolly Parton is standing up for her collaboration with Kid Rock on her new album ‘Rockstar.’ In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Parton discussed why she kept the duet on the tracklist despite the controversy surrounding the singer earlier this year.
Parton and Kid Rock collaborated on the track “Either Or” before the Bud Light incident, in which the singer shot bullets at cases of the beer with a semi-automatic rifle. In response to the scandal, Parton stated that she loves everyone and doesn’t condemn or criticize any one person.
The singer also shared her thoughts on cancel culture, saying that everyone deserves a second chance and should be innocent until proven guilty. She also said that if God can forgive someone, then she can too.
Parton’s album is out on Friday, November 17 and is a 30-track compilation of new songs and covers of classics like ‘Magic Man’ by Heart, ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince, and ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ by The Rolling Stones. The tracklist also features 40 guest stars including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting, Debbie Harry, Steve Perry, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
Parton also revealed that her duet with Stevie Nicks was originally written as a song for Fleetwood Mac. Fans of the iconic musician can pre-order the album now to hear this and other classic collaborations.
