Quavo Releases Emotional Video for ‘Hold Me’ to Honor Late Bandmate Takeoff

Rapper Quavo has released an emotional video for his track ‘Hold Me’, in which he attends a memorial service for the late bandmate of Migos, Takeoff.

The video was released alongside Quavo’s new album ‘Rocket Power’, which was created as a way for him to process his grief over the loss of his cousin and fellow Migos member.

Takeoff tragically passed away at the age of 28 in November of 2022, after what police believe was a botched dice game in Houston, Texas. In January of 2023, a man was charged with Takeoff’s murder, though he was released on a $1million bond.

Quavo and Offset of Migos paid tribute to Takeoff at the 2023 BET Awards. It was the first time the pair had performed together since Takeoff’s death.

Quavo described Rocket Power as a way to express his feelings after Takeoff’s passing. He said the album is “a true reflection of how [he] feel[s] right now. Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m down, sometimes I’m disappointed, sometimes I fall apart, but then I ALWAYS find my strength again.”

He added that Rocket Power is a way for him – and all of those who listen – to overcome whatever they are going through.

The powerful video for ‘Hold Me’ is a touching tribute to Takeoff and a reminder of the impact he had on Migos and the hip-hop world.
