The Killers have just announced the release of their brand new single, ‘Your Side of Town’, set to drop this Friday! After teasing a mysterious black and white video yesterday featuring a dancer in carnival-style attire in the desert, the band took to social media to confirm that it was, in fact, their new single.
Fans can pre-save the track here for an early listen. On Twitter, the band shared the artwork for the single and wrote, “Hello everyone, with much excitement we present you with Your Side of Town. It’s got the ghosts of a lot of synth music that inspired us over the years. And yet somehow feels completely our own. Now it’s yours! Turn it up.”
This will be the first new material from The Killers since their one-off 2022 single ‘Boy’. In a previous interview with NME, frontman Brandon Flowers said that the song was “the impetus for writing [2021 album] ‘Pressure Machine’”. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci added that it was a “different complexion” with an air of “optimism to it”.
The Killers’ last album, ‘Pressure Machine’, was released in 2021 and was met with critical acclaim. NME described it as a “fascinating, character-driven homecoming” and praised the band’s contemplative concept album, noting frontman Brandon Flowers’ reconnection with his roots.
When asked about writing new material, Brandon shared the band had been sending ideas “back and forth” and talking with their producers. He said that the full record should arrive early next year, but fans can look forward to more releases this year. Be sure to pre-save The Killers’ ‘Your Side of Town’ out this Friday!
