Billie Eilish has been praised by her fans for her thoughtful choice to fly economy class, despite her being one of the world’s most famous singers.
Recently, a viral video posted on TikTok highlighted the moment a fan in economy class spotted the back of Eilish’s hat a few rows ahead of them on a Brussels Airlines flight. The hat, which featured blue stars, perfectly matched the one Eilish had worn in an Instagram story that showed her seated on a plane with overhead lockers in view.
The video caption read “POV: You’re on a plane with Billie (still can’t believe wtf just happened)”.
The comments section of the post was soon flooded with fans who were both stunned and in awe that the artist had chosen not to travel in business class. One user commented that they thought Eilish always flew in a private jet, while another said they would have gone to the bathroom in the front of the plane every 5 minutes just to catch a glimpse of the singer.
Eilish has been an advocate for the environment for some time, and is due to host a climate action event, OVERHEATED, in London next week. The event will include discussions, community building, resources to help tackle the climate crisis, roller skating, and plant-based food.
The star is also due to headline the Reading & Leeds festival this weekend, as well as having scored her second UK Number One single, ‘What Was I Made For?’, which is featured in the Barbie soundtrack.
Eilish has undoubtedly become an inspiration for her fans, and has shown them that it is possible to be a successful artist and still be mindful of the environment.
