Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet Rushed to Hospital Before Performance in Northern Ireland

Tony Hadley, the former frontman of the iconic 80s band Spandau Ballet, was rushed to the hospital just before performing at the Clearer Water Antrim Coast Half Marathon Live Lounge in Larne, Northern Ireland on Sunday night (August 27).

The 63-year-old singer was scheduled to headline the event, but unfortunately had to be taken away after becoming unwell during soundcheck. After the check, Hadley also met fans for a meet and greet, but reportedly appeared uncomfortable before informing organisers of his current state of health.

St. John’s Ambulance were then called to the scene to take the singer away. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, fans of the singer were very understanding and accommodating. Ruth McIlroy, who organised the weekend, reported that the crowd had heard Hadley do a soundcheck earlier, but was taken away due to his discomfort.

Prior to the incident, Hadley was expected to perform songs from his solo career, as well as Spandau Ballet classics like ‘True’ and ‘Through The Barricades’. He quit as the band’s lead singer back in 2017, citing certain circumstances beyond his control.

In 2021, he told NME that he would not be getting back with the band no matter what. When asked by The Mirror earlier this year, he stated: “You could offer me all the tea in China and I wouldn’t get back with them. There’s no way.”

We all wish Tony a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on stage soon.
