Iconic British band Duran Duran have just announced their upcoming Halloween-themed album, ‘Danse Macabre’, set to release on October 27th. Fans can expect a mix of new original tracks from the band, reworked songs from their catalogue, and covers of some of the biggest hits. The album will include renditions of Billie Eilish’s ‘Bury A Friend’, Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ (featuring Måneskin bassist Victoria De Angelis), The Rolling Stones’ ‘Paint It Black’, The Specials’ ‘Ghost Town’, Siouxsie and the Banshees’ ‘Spellbound’, and Cerrone’s ‘Supernature’.
To announce the album, the band have shared its title track, one of three original new songs. Keyboardist Nick Rhodes said the song celebrates the joy and madness of Halloween, and that the album was created out of a show they played in Las Vegas on October 31st, 2022. He went on to explain that emotion, mood, style and attitude are all at the heart of Duran Duran’s DNA, and they managed to capture that in this project.
The artwork and tracklist for ‘Danse Macabre’ have been revealed, and include the tracks ‘Nightboat’, ‘Black Moonlight’, ‘Love Voudou’, ‘Bury a Friend’, ‘Supernature’, ‘Danse Macabre’, ‘Secret Oktober 31st’, ‘Ghost Town’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Super Lonely Freak’, ‘Spellbound’, ‘Psycho Killer’, and ‘Confession in the Afterlife’.
Andy Taylor, who has played with the band on-and-off between 1980 and 2006, recently revealed that the reason he quit Duran Duran was due to creative differences – not personal. Taylor was set to reunite with the band last year when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but his treatment for stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer forced him to miss the occasion.
‘Danse Macabre’ is set to be an exciting album full of new and old hits. With the release just around the corner, fans of Duran Duran and classic Halloween music can look forward to an unforgettable experience.
